New News

Get ready for another great week at Champion! A couple things to keep in mind this week: Mrs. Mel's Dad! Take the time to say a prayer and shoot her a text, as her Dad is undergoing open heart surgery today. Also be sure to say CONGRATS to the girls, as they have just taken ANOTHER regional championship. Ignite is Wednesday! This will be the first meeting in a few months, & it starts at 7 pm in Capachi's.

SW Region Coach

Coach D has officially been named as the South West Region Coach of the year! Are we even surprised at this point? Nope. Go Coach!

Bitter Sweet, Wins and Defeat

This past week was a tear jerker for any Tiger fan. The men's team started regionals by taking a devastating loss against College of the Ozarks to a buzzer beater half court shot. Despite this tragic loss, the Tiger's bid for a spot at nationals has been accepted! This means that they will have another shot at redemption. On another exciting note, Xavier Hall, Braylon Hawkins, and AJ Williams were selected 3rd team all region! The girls had a much better week, as they brought home ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP. The women finished the 1st round of regionals with a win against SWAU, 95-48. Jeralyn Hardy had 16 pts & freshman, Apryl Llanes, was right behind with 15 pts. The Lady Tigers then took on Dallas Christian in the semifinals. Between Alysia Pickett's33 pts, Tori Hayes 25 pts, &Kamryn Gentry's 17 pts, this dub was inevitable. The Championship game was a little closer vs ABU, but nonetheless, the girls successfully sealed the deal,78-73!All five starters made the top10 best region & Kam Gentrywon MVP!!!!

Spring into Baseball

The Champion baseball team also had an eventful week as they played a total of four games. They opened the week with game 1 against Philander Smith. Tigers took the dub 3-2.The next game was a little less enthusing as Champion took the loss 2-3 to Philander Smith. Champion played Lyon college Friday. Game 1 was a tough loss 2-7, as Lyon took an early lead and made it impossible for Champion to keep up. Tigers lost to Lyon again, but they held Lyon to a much lower score this time losing game #2, 0-2.
