What kind of education is required to be a pastor?

Pastors should be students of the Bible, capable and ready to present the message of God found in Scriptures. Biblical and theological study is a life long process that extends well beyond a bachelor’s degree. However, many denominations and local congregations require that an individual obtain a bachelor’s or graduate degree for ordination. Individuals interested in pastoral ministry should have an honest discussion with the pastor and mentors to understand what ministry calling means and entails.
