Champion Christian College would like to extend a hearty welcome to Mrs. Debra Wainscott! Mrs. Wainscott has joined our faculty for the fall 2021 semester as a science professor. She will be teaching our biology and anatomy/physiology classes.
Mrs. Wainscott’s path to the classroom has been unique. At age 57, as a retired nurse, she decided to join her husband in college, and 42 months later, she had earned an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and Ed.S. degrees in education (cum laude). The required course work for her doctorate (Ed.D) has been completed, with just the dissertation remaining to officially transform this former nurse into a doctor!
However, of all Mrs. Wainscott’s titles, her favorite is the one given her by her grandchildren–MoMo. She and her husband have moved around the country many times to be closer to her three children and eleven grandchildren. In addition, she is a passionate member of her church family as well and loves the fellowship at Gospel Light Baptist Church. She and her husband have had the opportunity to bring their commitment to family to those desperately in need; they have served as “cottage parents” at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Baxley, Georgia, and the Rodeheaver Boys’ Ranch in Palatka, Florida.
In her free time, Mrs. Wainscott, a self-described “certified sports nut,” enjoys cheering on the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, and San Antonio Spurs.
“The opportunity of teaching at the college level is a new horizon for me,” says Mrs. Wainscott. “My youngest son graduated from Champion in 2006 and married a Champion girl in 2007, so we have been Champion enthusiasts for a long time.” We are so excited to welcome Mrs. Wainscott to the Champion family! We know she will be a tremendous blessing to our students!
